Won’t you be my neighbor

Mom and I are going to make a quilt for our neighbor’s daughter, Laura, who is graduating from high school this year. Her mom told us she likes black, white and pink, and she likes the Marilyn Monroe era. I have a ton of fabric options, so that won’t be a problem, but I’m having some trouble deciding on a pattern. I fooled around in EQ6 and came up with some possibilities. Any opinions?

  1. Saw these on flickr. What great options you’ve come up with! For a teenager, my favorite is #1, but 5, 10, 11 are close behind. Either pieced backing is fun. Good luck!

  2. I like Laura 1, Laura 3, Laura 4 and Laura 5. My favorite is the first. It has a modern look, so it is a quilt but won’t look old fashioned for a dorm room. Perfect for a freshman in college. They are all very cool, whichever ones you don’t use, you will have to save them for another day!~Hoffrooe

  3. I for me would choose one of these numbers – 1, 5, 7 and 11 – I hope I could get you some little help.
BTW I seems to me that you are a wizard on this EQ-Thing – all of your suggenstions looks adorable. Maybe I should buy ? – gggg –

    Bye,

    • Thanks for sharing your opinion – it helps! I really enjoy using EQ6, although sometimes I spend more time designing quilts on the computer than I do actually sewing them. If you’re looking for a quilt design software, I definitely recommend it. If you want something less expensive and less technical, Quilt Design Wizard, also by Electric Quilt, is a good choice. Thanks again!

  4. Hi, the most beautiful is Laura 11, although all of them are very nice.
Hope you find your way through it. Regards, ana

  5. I LOVE black, white and pink! Your designs are great. I would pick 1 or 5 with 6a as the backing. I have been really drawn to simple and clean designs lately, these are great. I personally loved a pieced backing as well. Have fun with the decision!

  6. I’ve never used EQ but am impressed w/ what you’ve come up with. I am anxious to see what you decide on.
P.S. I did 2 different stints in Janesville at the GM plant.

  7. These are ALL great! But I’m partial to #4, with maybe a little bit more pink, for practical reasons. It’s contemporary, but doesn’t have as much white, and therefore probably won’t need to be washed as much. And #6a as backing for the same reason. If it’s not hanging out in a dorm room, I’m all over #1, #5, or #7.

  8. 1 and 5. and totally agree with what Laura J said if you go with 5. (6a as the backing but substitute the same blocks as on front)
