Quilting Bee

Friday, my mom, aunts, and friends got together for our monthly stitch & bitch. In addition to our regular sewing projects, they worked on Wonky Stars for the Bushfire Quilt Project. I say “they” because I had to work. Hmmm… restaurant and dinner theater, Valentine’s Day… yep, no getting out of work that day. I did, however, manage to make one Wonky Star yesterday, and I plan to make several more today. Here are the ladies hard at work (except Mom, who’s holding the camera):

And are all of the blocks that they made:

As you can see, some of them are wonkier than others – it was their first time sewing this block and a few “mistakes” were made. However, I think the odd bits really make the quilt. It’s all about wonkiness, after all! I received several nice comments about the super wonky blocks over on Flickr, too. Click on the photo to see them.

In addition to the Wonky Stars, my aunt Karen brought three completed baby quilt tops to donate. She’s been making charity quilts for many years.

As usual, there was food (thank you Larry for the delicious cherry bars!), gabbing, and lots of laughter. Too bad I missed it this time!
