I’m not one for following patterns, but the best thing about patterns is that they calculate necessary yardage for you. And it’s even right most of the time.
In EQ7, a couple of quick clicks gives me this:
I can specify the width of fabric (40″, 42″, 44″, 54″ and 60″), and the calculation is right almost every time. Oh, YEAH!

Now that would be handy – how often have I had to calculate “on the hop” (or in the shop) and got it wrong? Fortunately always by too much!
I’m with you on that. I often over buy or under buy fabric and it’s a PITA when you’ve ordered fabric online and there’s no quilt shops around!
